The Rongai Route is one of the easiest and least crowded routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering high success rates. It begins on the northern side, near the Kenyan border, and descends via the Marangu Route on the southern side. The route provides diverse scenery and breathtaking views from multiple vantage points.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a driver will meet you after you clear immigration and customs. Look for a sign with your name. The drive to Arusha city takes approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Today, you will have a trek orientation with your Kilimanjaro guide, an opportunity to rent any necessary equipment, and time to pack for the trek. Any extra luggage not needed for the climb can be left at the hotel.
If time allows, we recommend taking an extra rest day before starting your trek.

Accommodation: Hotel or Lodge (Mid-Range)
After breakfast, drive to the village of Nale Moru, which takes about two hours, including a stop to obtain trekking permits at Marangu. Upon arrival, register for the trek and meet your porters. As the forest clears, you will arrive at Simba Camp on the edge of the moorland zone, offering breathtaking views over the Kenyan plains.
